Harken Yacht Equipment is pleased to announce the promotion of Robert Sweet from Corporate Controller, to Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Treasurer of Harken, Inc. His responsibilities are to manage the global financial operations of Harken, Inc. which include the parent company in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA, as well as wholly-owned subsidiaries in Italy, France, England, Slovenia, Australia, and New Zealand. Harken also has ownership interests in Harken Sweden and Harken Japan.
Assistant Controller Marc Monreal has been promoted to Division Controller of Harken USA. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, and is a Certified Public Account.
Monreal has been with Harken for four years.
Sweet succeeds Arthur Mitchel who has been with Harken for 28 years. Mitchel has streamlined his duties, and will serve as Harken's Legal Director and as consultant to the company's Board of Directors, financial, operations, and HR departments. Mitchel and Sweet have been key managers in guiding Harken to its present leadership position in the marine industry.
"Bob Sweet's appointment as Harken Treasurer formalizes his core strength as the financial resource of Harken for the past 18 years, said Mitchel. "Bob will continue to give his support to Harken's expanding international network of 7 corporations across the globe. Although financially oriented, Bob is a key senior management resource for all Harken operations."
Sweet has been a member of the Board of Directors of Harken, Inc. and Harken Italy SpA for the last four years. He has accounting and financial degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madision and is a Certified Public Accountant.
