12 February, 2008 - Warsaw, Poland—Harken Yacht Equipment today announces the opening of its newest wholly-owned sales and service office in Warsaw, Poland. Led by Magdalena Rakowicz as Harken Polska’s managing director, the office will help accommodate the quickly growing sailing industry in Poland. Harken Polska will have exclusive sales and distribution responsibility for Harken in the country.

Along with the growth of production boat yards, special custom yacht projects are also increasing. Interest and participation in sailing is on the rise, offering legitimate aftermarket opportunities for Harken. Having an office in Poland is critical for Harken to provide the high levels of service that have become synonymous with the Harken name worldwide.
About Magdalena Rakowicz
A lifelong sailor, Rakowicz is a technically knowledgeable marine professional who has worked in sales and distribution in the marine division of MAJER Ltd. located in Warsaw. Rakowicz has extensive cruising and some racing experience. She has also supervised, organized, and was responsible for crews aboard many tall ships. Rakowicz will continue to use her strong communication and leadership skills to firmly establish Harken in the Polish market. Her experience, coupled with Harken’s winning formula of support of its subsidiaries set up Harken Poland for success.
