Pewaukee, WI—After more than a hundred thousand cycles in the Harken testing lab, Harken cylinders have proven themselves on yachts of all types—from luxury megayachts like Nazenin V, to Grand Prix racers including the TP52’s Artemis and Quantum Racing, winner of the 2008 Audi Med Cup and TP52 World Championship.
“Our cylinders have an outstanding record,” said Hydraulics Manager, Robbie Young. “Their efficiency, longevity, and reliability are evident in our selection of quality materials and components that stand up to constant high-stress racing and harsh marine environments.”
Harken cylinders feature low-friction graphite-filled Teflon® rod seals and bronze-filled Teflon® piston seals—more efficient and longer lasting than polyurethane seals. Performance O-rings and slant springs in the nonabsorbent Teflon® seals maintain a consistent and reliable fit.
Standard hydraulic cylinders are made of black-anodized 6061 high-strength aluminum
with Nitronic 50 rods and pins. Housings for custom cylinders are available in 17-4PH or 316 6AL-4V titanium, or 7075-T6 aluminum in black or clear-anodized finishes. Custom components include titanium or Nitronic 50 stainless steel rods, and titanium, 17-4PH stainless steel, or Nitronic 50 stainless steel pins.
Standard pull cylinders have air spring returns. Custom versions offer push, push/pull, and pull/pull cylinders. Cylinders include a standard eye and clevis jaw, but can also be fitted with Harken blocks and other eye types.
