Class History

The Elliott 6 Meter made its Olympic debut in the womens match racing event at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Designed by New Zealander Greg Elliott, this brilliant thin-bulbed keel racer is quick-moving, nimble, and physical to sail. The large open-style cockpit ensures flat-out hiking by the three crew. Sail controls are led through a tunnel in the floor to maximize work space. Boats were supplied by regatta organizers leading up to the Olympics, so sailors at all levels could perfect match racing—one-on-one duels of strategy and tactics. A fleet was also provided for the 2012 Olympic competition.
