Pewaukee, WI - Harken introduces an expanded range of its classically-styled wooden blocks for smaller yachts. Originally created for custom megayacht projects, the blocks combine elegant marine-treated elm and a choice of metal sheaves with Harken's modern ULC bearing system, enriching the warm appeal of traditional looks without sacrificing the quiet and smooth-running performance of Harken blocks. Bronze medallions on either side can be engraved with the yacht name or logo to enhance the sense of tailor-made, traditional craftsmanship.
"Our first wooden blocks combined the authentic old-world feel of varnished elm with the strength to handle the enormous loads seen on megayachts," says Harken Custom Sales Manager, Corinne Rich. "Now we're offering this line of reliable, high-performance blocks for a wider range of yachts."
The hand-selected wooden exterior features interlocking grain with a rich, glossy finish to resist splitting and drying. Bronze or black-anodized aluminum sheaves ride on an ultra-light composite bearing surface for maximum efficiency. Ball bearings carry sideloads. Single and double blocks are offered in a variety of configuration in sizes 62 to 127 mm.
