One
of the most amazing feats in modern sailing is a solo circumnavigation. Never have we seen such an impressive field of the most exciting offshore
sailing machines being pushed to near their limits with such great success than
in this year’s edition of the Vendée
Globe. We have seen technology and bravery take us to entirely new
heights. I have a hard time imagining sailing a 60-foot boat at speeds
that allow near-500-mile runs in 24 hours—BY MYSELF! These boats are so
fast. They can be routed in front of each fast-moving weather system around the
globe as if shot out of a cannon. Harken is proud to have outfitted
almost all of the IMOCA 60 field with our Grand Prix winch and hardware
systems.
