Pewaukee, WI—Harken's newest Radials® combine bold styling with the technical excellence the Radial Winch line is known for. Mirror-finished chrome drums with white composite tops, self-tailing jaws, and bases provide a striking aesthetic option for everything from modern yachts to teak classics. All Radials feature a shaped gripping surface that is gentle on lines and a one-piece stripper arm that prevents fingers and clothing from catching on moving parts. Using modern composites and lightweight aluminum, the Radial White has excellent corrosion resistance and offers a weight savings of up to 30%.
"We always like to add more aesthetic options so designers, boat builders, and owners can be selective and control the look of their yachts," says Italian Engineering Manager Michele Cazzaro. "The Radial White has a clean, bright look that complements a variety of styles."
The Radial White line joins Aluminum Radials (black drum/base/top) and Chrome Radials (chrome drum with black top/base). All Radial drum surfaces are specially shaped for each winch size and material. Diagonal ribs (rather than abrasive textured materials) maximize gripping power and greatly reduce line wear. When easing, the angle of the ribs stops line from rising, preventing overrides and providing a smooth controlled release as the line exits the winch. Composite roller bearings reduce friction under load, are corrosion resistant, and don't require lubrication. Load-carrying gears and pins are 17-4PH stainless steel for strength and durability.
Conversion to electric is simple; builders can even pre-drill a gear shaft hole into the deck to simplify future upgrades. Captive roller bearings and snap-fit parts make winches easy to service and disassemble on deck. A patent-pending stud-bolt mounting option allows quick installation without removing the drum.
